what I noticed about college is that the first week everyone looks sort of cool, and then just wearing simple jeans and pajamas for the rest of the semester.
You really don't have to worry much and try hard about your appearance. Everyone in there will be too sleepy after studying for the tests all nights anyway to notice anything else.
Other than that, I would recommend maybe to get a basic facial, eyebrow wax, maybe highlights? Or just a haircut that will be easy to take care of. You can do the manicure and pedicure at home, as long as you have all the right supplies. And then just eat healthy for few weeks to get a healthy skin tone and shape.
But don't worry too much. You will be fine/. Remember, the only people you will have to impress in there are your professors! :)
well if i were you i would
1. go shopping for a new wardrobe
2. go tot the salon and ask the hairstylist what haircut would look good on you.
3. use neutrogena for your skin
4.exercise and eat healthy
5.find different ways of putting on your makeup
and....thats about it :)
i can't give you the most detailed answer but i can give you a website that you can upload your picture onto and you can try on all different kinds of hair styles and colors along with makeup. this is what i used before i did my make over :o)
hope it helps you too!

get highlights, M.A.C. does free makeovers, go to forever 21 or a high fashion store, Victoria secret push up bra, tanning lotion, tips, earings, do your makeup everyday make sure ur body lookes tan and fit, good smelling perfume
1.Start putting your hair in a clip
2.Wear tank tops and bikini's most of the time
3.If you don't wear bikini's you could always wear short with shirts that show your stomach
For college I wore sweats and/or pajamas, put my hair in a ponytail and never wore makeup. I suggest investing in a good face cleanser and lotion (I love proactive), some cute pj's, tees, tanks %26amp; flip flops, and getting a pedicure.
But if you want to go for a whole new you try these:
- Get a new haircut, cut it short and dye it (or highlight it).

- Update your wardrobe. Pick up some new pieces and give yourself a whole new image. Here are the ';basics:'; White tank, Black Tank, Crewneck Sweater, Jeans (2 pair min), Long-Sleeve White T-Shirt, Khakis, Black Turtleneck, White Button-Down, Long-Sleeve Black T-Shirt, Cardigan, Short-Sleeve White T-Shirt, Black Pants, (Dark) Denim Jacket, Short-Sleeve Black T-Shirt, A-line Wool Skirt, Black Suit, Pin-Striped Oxford, Black Dress, Silk Blouse, Gray Dress Pants, Fitted Jacket, Camisole, Printed Dress, Patterned Jacket, Bold Blouse, Graphic Sweater, Tweed Pants, Velvet Jacket, Ruffled Shirt, Cocktail Skirt, Sparkly Top, Velvet Pants, %26amp; a Party Dress http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/pac鈥?/a>

- Exercise: Lose weight %26amp; get that healthy glow. Part of getting a new image is changing your lifestyle. So go for a 15 min jog everyday, join a yoga class, or try something you've always wanted to do like a pole dance class or ballet lessons. The exercise will also Really help with the 'Freshman 15' (that not-so-mythical fifteen pounds most post high school students gain)
- Experiment over the summer with new hair styles %26amp; makeup looks. You could go simple %26amp; natural with just cover up, mascara, blush %26amp; lip gloss. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2301/2478鈥?/a>
